Quick ILP update

Just a quick note to say that after 16 weeks post ILP surgery I'm walking up to 4.5km daily on flat ground without stopping and 8km a day all up with no problems.I have gained a huge amount of benefit from this procedure and am looking forward to getting back to living life to the fullest rather than always gazing into the proverbial window of prosthetic upgrades at the hype and promises looking at ways to gain an inch of benefit.... I took the mile!. Everything is so much easier.I had a stump…See More

Video link Integral Leg Prosthesis

Here's the link to the TV3 news clip. The Campbell Live TV crew came with me to Sydney and filmed the op. I'm 15 days post op and feeling great, wound healed and no phantom pain. Just a little tired of being on crutches, I could of had the 2nd op earlier except for scheduling issues.http://www.3news.co.nz/Prosthetic-leg-surgery-an-NZ-first/tabid/367/articleID/249021/Default.aspxThey…See More

First procedure

I'm sitting up in bed, 20 hrs post op after having the stem of the integral leg prosthesis under epidural.
I feel fantastic no pain and very comfortable. The team here at the Macquarie university hospital are fantastic.
Dr Almuderis did the operation yesterday with no complications.

Hi Phil

Are you an above knee amputee?  How has the OI gone? I am due to have one done in October and would love to speak to others who have gone through this. I am also interested in that waterproof covering you speak about as I swim every day and would hate to give that up. Any risk of infection where the abutment leaves the stump? Sorry for all the questions.

Good morning Phil,

I have some internet sites you should take a look at.

www.ax4you.com

www.irenevilla.org

YouTube Osseo Denmark and Spain

When it comes to infection we usaly say that you will have one a year, just like having a cold. Everything is individuall some have some don't.

When it comes to the liner and cosmetic some choose to have it and some choose to be without.

If you want to have other information use eva.borg-pearce@vgregion.se and I will send it to you.

Take care/E
